Love & Compassion
Act of Charity
O my God, I love you above all things with my whole heart and soul because you are all good and worthy of all my love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of you. I forgive all who have injured me and ask pardon of all whom I have injured.
Amen.
Commandments 4 - 10 in the Ten Commandments focuses on how we should love our neighbor. However, "love" can easily become a buzz word that is thrown around, which can make it seem that all Catholics are called to do is be nice to others. However, the love God calls us to is much more profound than this. Watch the video by clicking below, which explains the roots of the term "love" in Scripture.
While we may be familiar with Examinations of Conscience based on the Ten Commandments, we may be less familiar with examining our consciences based on the Scriptural depiction of love. Click below and together work through an Examination of Conscience, written by Catholic speaker Meg Hunter-Kilmer, that is based on St Paul's explanation of love in 1 Corinthians 13.
